chennai to velakanni tour package

A visit to unexplored town of Velankinni
Christmas holidays are enjoyable and refreshing. To explore the celebrations of the festival of Christmas, we planned Chennai to Velankanni tour package. It is one of the most popular Christian pilgrimages of India. Located at the shores of Bay of Bengal, Velankinni is 12 kilometers from the Coromandel Coast.

The town is famous for the shrine Basilica dedicated to the “Lady of Health”. She was renowned to have miraculous powers, also known as Madonna of Velankanni.
The Velankanni tour package from Chennai was a great idea to enjoy the Christmas celebrations. I and my three office colleagues booked a car on rent for the Velankanni tour package from Chennai. It was a 7.5 hours journey on Friday afternoon. We reached the destination at the night and checked in at a hotel near the famous Church. The town was lit up with lights, catchy markets, and rush on the streets. It was the day of 23rd December.

We woke up early; we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the hotel and were ready to attend the Morning Prayer at the Velankinni Church. The Church was grand and magnificent. The essence of spirituality and eternity captivates you. We offered candles to Mother Mary. The history of the Church makes it significant as it has the status of Basilica.
In the vicinity of the Church, we went to enjoy the Velankinni beach, one of the most prominent attractions of the town. The beach is popularly known as the “Lourdes of the East”. The Velankinni beach lies on the coastline of the sea; hence it’s an important port for trading with different countries.

The smell of the seafood at the beach drove us crazy. Within a while, we were avid for seafood. I loved the seafood at the beach. A 22 minutes drive to Sikkal from Velankinni was the opportunity to enjoy a nap as we were badly tired. Sikkal is a beautiful city famous for the Muragan Temple dedicated to Lord Singaravelan. Adorned with splendid carvings and paintings of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Hanuman, the temple was one of a kind.
We were totally fascinated by the town of Velankinni which was peaceful and spiritual. Later evening, our group did shopping in the market of Velankinni near the Church and the beach. The next day was the day of Christmas. We were too excited to explore the celebrations of the festival in the sacred town.  The next morning we went to the Velnakinni Church. ” to attend the Mass. At the Mass, we discovered peace within ourselves far from the rush and hectic routine of the city.

To explore exciting places at Velankinni, you can visit the nearby places such as Nagore Dargah, Karaikal Beach, Ettukudi Murugan Temple, Tiruvarur Big Temple, and Vedanthangal - Bird Sanctuary. The Chennai to Velankanni tour package of 2 nights and 3 days was fabulous and pristine. If we have an opportunity to extend our trip, we would have surely done it. But we had to leave the next morning back to Chennai.
